Before you write

Which version do I have?

In Dirwise open More → About Dirwise (or press Ctrl+K and type “About”). The dialog shows the version, for example Version 1.6.0. You can also find it in Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps.

Please also mention your Windows version (press Win+R, type winver) and whether you installed Dirwise from the Microsoft Store or from GitHub.

Known issues

“Windows protected your PC” (SmartScreen)

The installer from GitHub isn't code-signed, so SmartScreen warns before the first run. Click More info → Run anyway. The Microsoft Store version installs without this warning and updates through the Store.

No transparency on Windows 10

Blurred transparency (More → Appearance → Transparency) needs Windows 11 22H2 or later. On Windows 10 and older Windows 11 builds the option isn't offered and the window stays solid – everything else works the same. On Windows 11 the window is also solid when Transparency effects are turned off in Settings → Personalization → Colors, and while the window isn't active.

Releases and changes

Every version with its installer is on the Releases page; what changed in each one is in the Changelog. The GitHub version tells you when a new release is out; the Store version updates by itself.

Security and privacy

Please report security vulnerabilities privately through GitHub Security Advisories, not in a public issue. How Dirwise handles your data is described in the Privacy Policy.
